Traveler’s Log

I was supposed to copy sHLa’s idea of “reminiscing” all my travels for the first half of the year but then again I just opted to make a Traveler’s Log for personal reference.

In summary, I traveled to 36 different destinations at least once (cities, municipalities, provinces, JVP areas, Mangyan areas and mountains, forests and beaches, etc.) within the span of 6 months. That’s an average of 6 specific locations per month. Not bad!

January

January 2        Sabang and White Beach, Puerto Galera with Aena

                        Our trip started off not quite good because of a rough boat ride and we spent P800 for an overnight

                        stay in an air conditioned room good for 2. Highlight: Aena bought a cool blue crochet bikini top!

January 3        Back to Calapan City

January 24      I went to Socorro for Tadyawan’s PMC performance evaluation then went back to Calapan that

                        same day for Ate Em’s birthday celebration (Ikay’s supervisor).

January 25      I went to San Mariano then to Naswak for the Bangon’s PMC performance evaluation. It was my first

                        time to cross a river that is chest-level deep and about 30 feet wide. I slept there for one night and it

                        was really, really cold! Absolutely it’s one of a kind experience.

January 26      After my Naswak trip, I directly went to Banti, Bulalacao for Hanunuo’s PMC performance evaluation. I

                        also spend the night there.

January 29      Metro Manila

                        To meet up with my Tita and cousin and we will go together to Ragay formy uncle’s burial.

January 30      Ragay is my Dad’s hometown. Today is also his birthday.

January 31      Naga City (after 8 straight months absence) then back again to Ragay

                        I just accompanied my Ate to Naga to attend to some important matters.

 February

February 2     Makati City, Metro Manila

                       I spend my entire day at the apartment all alone watching DVD movies.

February 3     Back to Calapan City

                       I have to go back today because I was invited to be a speaker at DWCC Career Orientation Day of

                       the Accountancy students.

February 10-11  Paitan and Arangin, Naujan

                       Together with Ikay and Dindin. This is our first R&R wherein we walked for hours crossing mountains

                       on foot, spent the night at an Alangan area and played card games, walked again for more than an

                       hour just to swim in the untouched natural hot spring. My first limatik encounter too.Nature’s perfection!

                       Supervisory Visit

March 10        Tugdaan, Paitan, Naujan with Ikay and Kuya Brahmi. Our 2^nd R&R

March 11-13   Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro

                       This is my first time to be here for a meeting with NCIP regarding the Alangan’s concerns and CADT

                       application, which was sponsored by the SSpS sisters.

March 15 – 18   Metro Manila

                      I went to Manila to submit KPLN’s SEC file requirements; had a new haircut at Ystilo salon then

                      watched the JVP concert at AFP Theater with Barbs and Ate Elen; a date with shla, etz and zra:

                      brunch at Zong, dessert at Greenbelt, watched 300, and ate the famous Smackers of Penny Brown;

                      and went to Montalban, Rizal with Jacky to visit Ate Elen’s area.

March 27-28  Metro Manila again

                      This time I had to accompany Ikay to Manila for her needed rest and for the complete recovery of her 2

                      ankles.

March 29       My Despedida Party at El Pueblo Rhizort at Brgy. Mahal na Pangalan

March 31       Birthday celebration at Tugdaan and Parang beach with Sheila

 April

April 1           Oceana Dive, Puerto Galera then Manila

                     Just had some photo-ops together with sHLa’s officemates before heading back to Manila with 3 heavy

                     big bags.

April 3           Zamboanga City

                     The first stop of the Super Ferry trip going to Davao City. We, the Manila volunteers (minus Gyobs),

                     visited Ateneo de Zamboanga Univeristy and Fort Pilar and witnessed a beautiful sunset at the dock.

April 4           General Santos City and Davao City

                     Our second stop.

April 4-9        JVP Batch 27 Year end Evaluation and Synthesis at Samal Island

April 9           Davao City Tour

                     Had a feasty late lunch at Aling Conching’s restaurant complete with Lechon Baboy. Then visited the

                     Crocodile farm, attend a mass at Ateneo de Davao University and had dinner with ikay and a friend

                     before going to CDO.

April 10         Cagayan de Oro City

                     Slept at Ria’s place and had Chowking Halo-halo treat by Aena’s dad at Limketkai Mall (I also had a

                     chance to visit and tour the campus of XavierUniversity)

April 11-13    Camiguin!

                     With Aena, Aya, Elen, Gyobs, Ian, JP, KC, Memel, Phil Ria and Ate Tzitzi. We went to the Walkway,

                     Sunken Cemetery, Old Church ruins, Ardent Hot Spring, White Island, Sto. Niño Cold Spring and

                     Katibawasan Falls

April 14-15    Malaybalay City and Miarayon, Bukidnon with Ian and Ate Elen

                     Met up with Nesty at Malaybalay and with Dindin and Colleen at Miarayaon. We stayed at Ate Elen’s

                     place. We tour around Miarayon and also visited the Asparagus farm. It rained that night so there was

                     fog everywhere.

April 16-17    Metro Manila via Cebu Pacific flight from CDO

April 18-20    Naga City with Jus

                     Food trip, city churches and Ateneo de Naga University campus tour, Bean Bag coffee date (plus Ate

                     Love), McDo meeting with Ate Mickie and lunch at Ate Love’s house

April 21         CWC, Pili, Camarines Sur and Legaspi City (after being gone for a year)
                     With Jus, Maymay, Papa and Mama

April 22         Donsol, Sorsogon then back to Legaspi City

                     Butanding interaction (Astig talaga!)together with Jus, Maymay and Mama plus Bigg’s Halo-halo treat by

                     Jus at Pacific Mall

April 24-25    Naga City for 2 days and 1 night

April 26-27    Metro Manila, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija, Cabanatuan City, Bulacan

                     I arrived at Manila in the morning then, after a little rest, went to Ateneo de Manila University to meet

                     up with Ria and KC to go to Cabiao, Nueva Ecija (Barb’s area) for an overnight stay together with

                     Barbs and Jus. The next day we went to Cabanatuan City for Jus’ Pizza Hut treat before heading back

                     to Manila. KC, Ria and I got lost along the way, so we end up dropping by at Bulacan to visit KC’s

                     grandparents. Fetched Aya at AdMU and stayed at her place for dinner and chit chat until the wee 

                     hours of the morning before I went back to the apartment.

April 28         Matulatula, Pola, Oriental Mindoro

                     Together with Ikay, we went directly to Pola to attend our Mangyan friend’s wedding. We were 2 hours

                     late because of travel delays. Then went back to Calapan that same night to take the needed rest from

                     all my tiresome travel adventures.

April 28-30    Calapan City for my JVP service extension at KPLN

May

May 1-18      Calapan City still

                     Continuation of my JVP service extension at KPLN and volunteered as a PPCRV poll watcher during

                     the May 14 election at Brgy. Calero

May 18-27    Metro Manila for the JVP Batch 28 OrSem

                     Solidarity Night, Work Orientation, Pabaon, Despedida Night at Sacred Heart Novitiate, Novaliches.

                     Overnight kwentuhan with Aya, Barbs, Gyobs, Ian and KC at Aya’s place. Watched Spider man with

                     Barbs and Jus at Market, Market. Sunday’s rest. Accompanied Ate May and Jammy for shopping at

                     Divisoria. Watched Shrek 3 with Barbs at Glorietta 4 and had a lunch picnic inside Aya’s van (Aya’s

                     mom treat too!) and made preparations for the Mission Mass.

                     Usher and usherettes: Aya, Barbs, Gyobs, Ian, Ria and yours truly

                     Dropped by at KC’s Send Off mass (plus Ate Reins) then dinner at Zafoli’s, Eastwood (including Jus &

                     sHLa). Afterwards, shla and I went to Zirko, Greenhills to watch Sponge Cola’s gig (together with shla’s

                     friends)

May 28-31    Talipanan, Puerto Galera (A Mangyan-Iraya tribe area)

                     With Bianx, Manny and Tish for KPLN’s Project end evaluation

                     Swimming at White Beach, played billiards and videoke singing

 June

June 1-3       Metro Manila

                     A 12-hour marathon conversation with Aya, Ian, KC and Ria at Aya’s kingdom. My last date with my

                     batchmates before finally settling back in Naga City for Law school and a teaching job in AdNU

June 4          Naga City arrival

June 8-10     Legaspi City

                     A long weekend together with my family (less shla and kuya don).

 
Additional notes:
An amazing personal accomplishment: I visited all 5 Ateneo universities (and that’s from South to North) during the month of April! Astig!
